But on the other hand, it brings anxiety on how your drive will be and hence many novice drivers seem to lose their confidence with driving. We hereby bring some simple tips on boosting your confidence.

Give it a start
The first thing you need for boosting your confidence is to at least give it a start. You will never be a confident driver until you get in to your car and do more and more practice. Start with small drives to nearby and known places to get hands on with your driving. Try different time and weather to get used to with various driving conditions like when the roads are busy, when it is night or when the road conditions are poor.

Get familiar to your car
It is very much necessary for you to get familiar with your car for how everything works with it. Get familiar with hazard lights, fog lights, location of fuel tank, windscreen washer function and many more. Pay sufficient amount of time to understand how your car functions. This will boost your confidence to go far for a longer drive with your car.

Challenge yourself with newer destinations
Once you start getting confident with your driving, start challenging yourself by choosing newer locations to visit. Research about routes, try using tools like Google Map and go for it. More new places you will start traveling by driving your car, more and more your confidence will keep boosting.

Maintain speed limit
It is very much necessary that you follow the speed limit strictly. The speed limit rules are there for ensuring your safety and you must obey them in order to avoid any unwanted breakdowns or hazels.

Learn to park
Of course the driving test do include the parking test as well, but the real world scenarios vary a lot. In the real world, you will need to be able to park on streets with short spaces as well as in parking with cars on both sides. Practice a lot to get more and more familiar to various parking conditions to boost your confidence.

Don’t let other drivers to pressure you
Out in the world, there are lot many impatient drivers. Don’t let them pressure you for speeding or driving faster than you are comfortable with. If a car is driving too closely to you, try lightly press your brake pedal to illuminate your brake lights to that car move further back and give you more space.

Take a break if you need to
Self-driving can be stressful and tiring. Never afraid to stop for a while wherever it is required. Get relaxed, release your stress and anxiety and resume again. Make sure you stop at a place which is safer enough to stop.

Sign up for advanced driving lessons
Advanced driving lessons can help you build up the skills you need to drive on busier roads in all types of road conditions. Learning to drive safely on busy A-roads and motorways is highly essential and will help boost your confidence.

SHOULD YOUR TEEN TAKE DRIVER’S EDUCATION OR WAIT FOR FEW YEARS? https://www.protekdriving.com/should-your-teen-take-drivers-education-or-wait-for-few-years/ https://www.protekdriving.com/should-your-teen-take-drivers-education-or-wait-for-few-years/#respond Thu, 15 Aug 2019 21:49:10 +0000 https://protekdriving.com/?p=1425 One of the biggest reliefs of your child getting older is no longer having to be their on-call chauffeur. Sports practices, friend’s houses, school, and so on. Odds are, you’ve been your child’s main source of transportation for most of their life. But now, as they approach that golden age of 16, they have the opportunity to earn a bit of freedom by getting their driver’s license. That is, unless you decide to send them an Uber instead.

That’s right. There has been a growing trend of parents using Uber as a means to shuttle around their un-licensed teen children.

The idea of using cab to shuttle your child around sounds like a great idea and a great use of modern tech. But unfortunately, there are several reasons why it would be much better to have your teen learn to drive and get their driver’s license.

1. Your Teen is ALREADY Really Expensive

Having a kid is already expensive enough. Handing over your taxi account to them gives them the ability to run up a large bill as they go wherever on your dime.

2. Waiting to get your license makes you a worse driver!

You’d think that waiting until your teen is older and more mature would lower the risk of them being a bad driver. According to an article in the Seattle Times this is actually not the case! Driver’s who start driving at age 16 are actually the least likely to receive a driving citation. Their 18 year-old counterparts were found to be 3 times as likely to receive a driving citation.

3. Teaching Your Teen How to Drive is a great Bonding Experience

With you teen just a couple of years from being (hopefully) out on their own, teaching them how to drive can be a great bonding experience. Not only will you be taking time to teach them a new skill, you’ll also have plenty of one-on-one time to talk to your teen. You may wind up helping them out with more advice than how not to get pulled over.

Auto Theft Protection Guidelines

As an auto owner, it’s to your advantage to learn more about how to protect yourself from car theft and safeguard your personal property. The following vehicle theft protection guidelines gives greater insight into what measures you can take to secure your vehicle. These measures may seem elementary but they produce successful results.

• Always close and lock all windows and doors when parking your vehicle.
• Always put your emergency brake on when parking your vehicle as it makes it more difficult for thieves to tow away your car.
• Never leave your vehicle running while you run to the ATM, convenience store or into your home even for the shortest amount of time.
• Never hide an extra set of keys inside or outside of your vehicle.
• When out, always park in well-lit areas where there’s a steady flow of pedestrians or within an attended parking lot.
• At home, always lock and park your vehicle inside your garage.
• Never leave valuable items within plain sight inside your vehicle as this can attract potential thieves.
• Never carry the title or registration of your vehicle inside your car as it provides thieves with the legal paperwork to easily dispose of your vehicle after stealing it.
• If you own a GPS, program your personal address under a different title than “Home” to protect your personal information in the event your car is stolen.
• Have your VIN or personal ID number engraved on your vehicle’s windows, major parts and costly accessories so these can be easily identified by police when tracing stolen property.
• If you plan to leave your vehicle unattended for quite some time, consider disabling it by removing your distributor, rotor or fuse to your electronic ignition, etc.
• Install an audio alarm to alert you when someone is trying to break into or steal your vehicle.
• Consider using anti-theft devices such as kill switches, floorboard lock, steering wheel lock or tire locks, especially if you live in a high theft area.
• Install a vehicle tracking system to help recover your stolen vehicle quicker.

These vehicle theft protection strategies can help reduce the risk (and worry) of car theft, letting you enjoy your vehicle to the full for years to come.

IS IT HARDER TO LEARN TO DRIVE WITH LAWS, RULES AND NEW THEORY AND PRACTICAL TEST? https://www.protekdriving.com/is-it-harder-to-learn-to-drive-with-laws-rules-and-new-theory-and-practical-test/ https://www.protekdriving.com/is-it-harder-to-learn-to-drive-with-laws-rules-and-new-theory-and-practical-test/#respond Thu, 15 Aug 2019 21:35:00 +0000 https://protekdriving.com/?p=1393 For most people turning seventeen means one thing – learning to drive. For not for everyone and there are many people who, for one reason or another, don’t feel that urge. They hit their twenties and still never get around to learning to drive. Then they reach their thirties and the irritation with public transport reaches fever pitch or the person they relied on to drive for them can’t do it anymore. So they start looking for a driving instructor. But is it harder to learn to drive in your thirties?

The positives

For many people, starting to learn to drive in your thirties may seem unimaginably hard when they have driven since they were eighteen. But there are some clear advantages that older learner drivers have that the younger ones don’t.

For starters, you have years of accumulated road knowledge, whether you thought you were paying attention or not. Drivers have a habit of telling non-drivers what another driver did wrong, why they were in the wrong lane or what that wacky sign post really means. And you do take information in. This means when you come to put it into practice, it can be surprising how much road etiquette and knowledge you have already amassed. As opposed to a seventeen-year-old who was likely playing with their smartphone most of the time while driving and has no idea!

Insurance is cheaper as a learner in your thirties and this often means you can be added to someone’s policy to get practice without needed to remortgage the house as you do when you are in your teens. More practise is always good away from your driving lessons and obviously, costs less too.

Awareness and confidence

Awareness of consequences and self-confidence are two areas that can go either way for thirties learner drivers. Because you realise that you could kill someone through your driving, hit a kid on a bike or crash into some pedestrians, you have a natural caution that kids often lack. This can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on your personality.

The same applies to self-confidence. Teens think they are indestructible and often drive like that. Older drivers know they aren’t and this can make them more cautious but again, this can be a good thing. As long as it doesn’t become a paralysing caution that causes them to doubt themselves.

The negatives

Both the above can become negatives in some situations. As we get older we have more worries and things happening with our lives than can make learning to drive more stressful. This, in turn, can make the process more difficult.

Adjusting the being the one who needs to be watchful all the time rather than a passenger gazing out of the wind can also take some adjustment for older learner drivers. This means learning to focus on potential hazards can take a bit more work!
